This book was originally a short story assignment in her Year 3 class, which we then made into our little project for the 2024 Easter break, same month as Arya's birthday as well as her baby sister Selene's.

I never knew the monster I made would change everything…

My name is Rana. I am eight years old and a Grade Three student. My mother and I moved back to our hometown after my father joined the stars. We hoped for a fresh start and to build roots again, but I also found something else—a strange kind of magic. I made friends, but not all of them are children like me. Some of them are monsters.

One of them is my own creation: Shadow Blue. He has bright yellow eyes and metal arms, with a body a deep sky color that looked like the shadows just before sunset. He was my art project; a piece of cardboard, glue, and endless possibilities.

But when night falls, he becomes something—or someone—else. Could I really be a girl with a monster friend, or is there another story, a secret I was never meant to know?

Recommended for readers 7 years old and above.

As Day 1/3 of Iloilo Mega Book Fair - IMBF draws to a close, I am both very happy and sorry to announce that my children's book, 'Fire of Courage' (http://shirley.ink/fireofcourage), has sold out.

I am very grateful to everyone who bought copies on the Fair's very first day, and can only sincerely apologize to those who were planning to buy copies tomorrow or Sunday (Apr 20th-21st). We will be taking orders (retail or bulk) at my table and will be printing a new, exclusive Philippine-only edition of 'Fire of Courage' next month with @paperkatbooks

We will offer the IMBF rates to those who will be placing advanced orders at my table. Bulk discounts will be offered on all my books as well. @inkysword is BIR registered, so we can transact with any and all offices and issue official receipts.
